Youth Pastor

Gate City Vineyard (GCV) is seeking a Spirit-led, relational, and mature individual to lead our Youth Ministry. GCV is an active, intergenerational Christian community of about 100 people in Greensboro, NC. Our mission is to build a strong, healthy church where people engage with God, one another, and the world.

 

The Youth Pastor’s primary role is to lead, disciple, and nurture middle school and high school students (6th–12th grade), while also supporting their families and helping them engage with the church family as a whole. This position involves creating a welcoming, gospel-centered environment that encourages spiritual growth, while equipping volunteers to support this vision.

 

Qualifications

• Demonstrates a mature walk with Christ and pursues Biblical truth. Must affirm the beliefs and core values of Gate City Vineyard and be a regular participant in the life of the church.

• Has strong passion for leading youth into a relationship with Jesus and showing the love of Jesus to them.

• Understands the importance of connecting with and supporting entire family units as well as youth.

• Values diversity and intentionally creates inclusive spaces for students from all backgrounds.

• Possesses strong Biblical knowledge, discernment, and teaching abilities.

• Can mobilize volunteers, lead teams, and delegate effectively. • Communicates clearly and effectively with youth, parents, and leadership—verbally and in writing.

• Is proficient in Microsoft Office and current social media platforms.

• Operates with a teachable, team-player attitude with regards to staff, leadership, and youth.

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Cast vision, develop, lead, and expand the middle and high school ministry.

• Teach age-appropriate curriculum for weekly youth meetings (Wednesdays) and other discipleship activities. Plan and oversee special services or events led by youth.

• Mentor students, fostering relationships that point them to Christ. • Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry to transition VKids into youth ministry.

• Recruit, train, and equip volunteer leaders (adult and student).

• Organize and lead spiritual growth events (e.g., Vineyard Elemental retreat in February, Camp Vineyard in June).

• Share information with youth, parents, and leaders to equip families for discipleship.

• Provide pastoral care for youth and parents as needed; refer to professionals when appropriate.

• Follow Gate City Vineyard’s child and youth safety policies.

• Participate in weekly staff meetings and assist with additional duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

 

What We Offer:

• Flexible hours (Sunday morning and Wednesday night youth group meetings required).

• Mentoring connections with church staff and leadership and a budget to develop the youth ministry.

• Competitive salary based on experience.

• Reports to Senior Pastor. Part-time role (10-15 hours/week); may be combined with Worship Pastor role to create a 30 hour or potentially full-time position.
