After looking at the practice of giving last week, this week we’ll look at the practice of prayer as we continue our Lent series. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. The Lord’s Prayer is perhaps the single most repeated prayer, regardless of denomination. This Sunday, Rolisa Tutwyler will bring a different set of lenses through which we might view this familiar model prayer.

After looking at the practice of fasting last week, this week we’ll look at the practice of giving as we continue our Lent series. Jesus had a lot to say about giving to others — and importantly, he focused not only on the act of giving to others but also how we should give and why we should give. We’ll explore that this Sunday and learn how giving to others can help us connect more deeply with Jesus and create space for God to shape us to be more like Him.

As we focus on Isaiah 9:6 this Advent season, we are comforted and reassured when we hear that Jesus is a “Wonderful Counselor” and “Prince of Peace.” But what about “Mighty God”? How does that fit with the others? Are we still waiting for Him to act as a Mighty God and finally overthrow the modern “Romans”?

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

Join us this Sunday as we continue through our exciting journey through the Book of John.

What if you truly believed in Jesus? What if you believed in all His promises, all His works, and all His love for you? How would that change your life? The Apostle John wrote the gospel of John “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31). As we conclude our series, “Fun with Family” we will be talking about the two special states of marriage and singleness! Most of us will be married and single for at least some portion of our lives. Parenting is a journey that can be both exhilarating and overwhelming, full of joys and sorrows and as well as plenty of moments along the way when we simply don’t know what to do next. Unfortunately there’s no foolproof parenting how-to manual out there, but the good news is that God has established a parenting model for us through his adoption of us as his children. This Sunday we will explore God’s parenting style and consider how we can apply that to our own parenting or mentoring relationships.

Family is one of those special things that is at the same time a blessing and also, often, a challenge! No one can push our buttons like our family can; no other relationships reveal our selfishness and sensitivities so much as family. And yet, God gave us our families – parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, children, grandchildren, and cousins and God’s gifts are good! This three-week series will help us learn how to be thankful for our families, how to love them well, to be healthy in our relationships, and to live together in peace!

We get to talk about one of my favorite pastimes this week – EATING! We are looking this week at how we can B.L.E.S.S. our neighbor by finding ways to spend time eating together. We will see how simple hospitality can make a difference with your neighbors and co-workers, and how inspiring relationships can be formed when we simply share a meal.

Every one of us has a neighbor, no matter what kind of house or apartment or room you live in! There are people you pass every day, who are in your workplace, out in their yards, or on the elevator with you. Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” and in this series we are looking at what that means – how to truly be a BLESSING in our communities and share the blessings that God has poured on us. Don’t miss this week as we focus on LISTENING.
